Balloons have always been an essential and important item for any party or celebration. However, the explosion of the balloon arch and garland trend has transformed the humble balloon into a beautiful art form that allows you to create a luxurious and sophisticated backdrop. So, whether it's a baby shower, hen party, wedding, birthday or engagement party, arch balloons are the ultimate choice for creating stunning party features. Balloon garlands are versatile and can be hung from dessert tables, fireplaces, entrance ways, dance floors or even outside to wow your guests and make a big impact.

While building a DIY balloon arch may seem a bit daunting, don't let that discourage you, as it is very easy to assemble and will provide a great talking point and photo backdrop at your party.

Our Balloon Arches

Our balloon arch kits have everything you need to make a beautiful DIY balloon garland, including over 50 rose gold, light pink and matte gray balloons (5" and 12") as well as garland tape and glue dots. Our balloons are for inflation only and we recommend using a balloon pump (manual or electric) to make the process easier.

▻ Inflate the balloon with a balloon pump.

While a balloon pump is not essential for creating a balloon arch, it is recommended to use it as it will speed up the process and make it easier. Smaller balloons, such as the 5" size, may be more difficult to blow up without a pump.

Blow up and tie all the balloons and set them aside. Try to inflate the balloons into a circle instead of an oval. Unfold the plastic balloon wreath tape.

▻ Secure your first 12" balloon.

Leave about 30 cm of balloon tape at the beginning. Slide your first 12" balloon through the larger hole, then slide it through the smaller hole to secure it.

▻ Add additional 12" balloons

Add additional 12" balloons through each hole. If the balloon is too tight, skip a hole to make more room.

▻ Hang the garland and trim it to the right size

After adding all 12" balloons to the tape, hang the garland using string or a command hook and line, then trim the tape to the proper size.

If you would like to mount the display as a balloon arch, simply follow the instructions to build it. Place the balloon garland flat in front of you and determine where you want the display to bend. Take the wire/string and wrap it around the garland and tie a knot, making sure it is securely around the tape between the balloons. Take the loose end of the wire/string and tie a knot to form a hanging loop - this ensures that the balloon garland is secure and that the loop can be shortened as needed.

Repeat this step for the beginning and end of the balloon arch, but use the garland tape holes for added stability. To hang your balloon arch, make sure your command hook or equivalent is in place and hang the middle section before securing the top and bottom.  When the balloons are filled with air instead of helium, they will hold in place and form a nice balloon arch.

▻ Add 5" Balloons

Fill any gaps in the balloon arch with 5" balloons and use double-sided tape dots to hold them in place. For the easiest application, unroll the tape to expose a glue dot. Gently press the exposed dot into the position of your choice to position it on the balloon and gently pull the tape away. Place the 5" balloon into the gap in the wreath and press gently to hold it in place and allow the glue to adhere.

Latex Balloon

Pro tips

1. Everything you need to start assembling is at your fingertips. The first step is to make sure you have decided where you want to hang the balloon arch and install the command hook or equivalent. To make the process as easy as possible, have your scissors, string/wire and all the balloons ready to use.

2. Add accessories to the balloon arch such as flowers, leaves, paper flowers, or ribbons to add a special touch and surprise to your beautiful display. Add these additional accessories after assembling and installing the balloon garland and any fresh items should be added on the day of the event to prevent them from wilting.

3. If creating your own DIY balloon arch, make sure you source high-quality latex balloons, as cheap balloons will not be able to withstand the pulling and twisting forces required when positioning the garland in place, and may burst. Cheap latex balloons are not only harmful to the environment, but once inflated, the color change will be noticeable and will not last long. High-quality balloons will ensure that the colors are consistent and that your balloon arch will still look beautiful before, during, and after the party.

WARNING

Children under the age of 8 may be suffocated or choked by uninflated or broken balloons. Adult supervision is required. Keep uninflated balloons away from children. Discard broken balloons immediately. Always inflate balloons through a balloon pump. Do not inflate balloons by mouth. Made of natural rubber latex.
